We invite you to join us in honoring the life and legacy of B.K.S. Iyengar by committing to 100 days of yoga practice—everyday, even if just a little—either in class or at home.

B.K.S. Iyengar, one of the foremost yoga teachers in the world, was born on December 14, 1918 and passed away August 20, 2014 at the age of 96, so this year would be his 100th birthday. All over the world yoga students are celebrating this Centenary year to honor his legacy, and this blessing: our practice of yoga. “100 Days of Yoga” invites each to pledge and offer one day of practice for each year since his birth.

Committing to daily practice builds wonderful attributes such as devotion, self-discipline, tenacity, faith, resilience, intuition, and compassion. It also helps you experience the wonderful fruits of such regular practice—very different from practicing once or twice a week.

Although High Desert isn't an Iyengar studio, most of our teachers have been inspired and touched by the teachings and life works of Mr. Iyengar and his family. By honoring its roots, with gratitude and humility, we can find greater vitality in our practice.

Recording your practice can be helpful for keeping your commitment. You can mark each practice on the wall chart when you come to HDY or download 100 Days of Yoga Personal Log.
