Nourish your senses and sooth your being with an inspiring yoga retreat in Troncones, Mexico, a tranquil and beautiful beach, washed by the warm clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. Troncones is located 20 miles from the fabulous sleepy fishing village of Zihuatanejo. We will be staying on Manzanilla Bay, the most protected and beautiful beach in Troncones at the Resort Eden and La Posado de los Raqueros which are in close proximity to each other. Both offer oceanfront bungalows and rooms as well as air-conditioned suites. Enjoy delicious, healthy seafood and vegetarian entrees prepared by professional gourmet chefs.

Just a short walk down the glorious beach, you will arrive at Yoga del Pacifico, where each day Zoreh and Melissa will offer two nourishing and revitalizing Yoga classes, inspired by the beauty of the land and sea surrounding you while on retreat ~ tropical breezes, ocean waves, the scent of plumeria, and the rustle of palms. Classes will incorporate therapeutic, gentle alignment, restorative, and Yin Yoga - with uplifting and energizing morning classes, and relaxing and contemplative afternoon classes, both suitable for all levels. Additionally, meditation, mantra and pranayama practice will be incorporated into each class

During your retreat you will enjoy ample opportunities for restful, quiet time, or to partake in many activities such as swimming, bird watching, eco-tours with special hikes to caves, a swimming hole and a kayaking adventure on a nearby lagoon. Horseback riding, massage, shopping trips to Zihuatanejo, a boat trip to beautiful Ixtapa Island with snorkeling, and deep sea fishing are other optional activities.

Zoreh Afsarzadeh, founder and director of High Desert Yoga, has been teaching yoga since 1985. Zoreh’s upbringing in Iran started her on the path of Sufism, meditation, and spirituality, and during her lifetime, she has studied numerous methodologies including Iyengar, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, Siddha yoga, and that of the American Yoga College. Zoreh is passionate about yoga and exploring the heavenly spots in the world, so for more than 20 years, she has offered yoga and meditation retreats in inspiring locations such as Mexico, Thailand, India, Costa Rica, and Bali, as well as at various locations in New Mexico. Zoreh and her husband Charlie have created a beautiful outdoor studio, Yoga del Pacifico, on the beach in Troncones, Mexico, where she and other many well-known teachers regularly host retreats. Zoreh's joyous personality and sense of humor endear her to her students with a teaching style that is both nurturing and fun, and her teaching combines a delicate knowledge of the body that allows a compassionate authentic expression of the postures to emerge.

Melissa Spamer M.A. ERYT 500, C. Ay., LMT, has been exploring the world of healing arts for nearly thirty years. She has accumulated thousands of hours in Yoga, body & energy work, Ayurveda, and psychotherapy training. Melissa completed her first certification to teach Yoga in 1997 with the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center, and has since completed more than six 200-500 hour teacher trainings. Over the past twenty four years she has been creating and facilitating classes, retreats, and trainings as well as seeing private clients.  Her approach to Yoga integrates her in-depth studies with such celebrated teachers as Angela Farmer, Victor Van Kooten, Rama Vernon, and TKV Desikachar. Her teaching is inspired by the rhythms of the breath, the movements found within the natural world, and fluid, spacious alignment. She is also a licensed bodyworker, Ayurvedic practitioner, and licensed counselor in the state of New Mexico.
