Through yoga we connect with our inner strength, wisdom, and poise. So why do we experience discomfort, tension, and confusion about proper alignment so often in yoga? When we're too much in our brains, thinking about where each individual body part goes, we don't listen to our whole body intelligence. The basis of our whole body intelligence lies in the use of our postural system. As scientists have recently observed, the use of the postural system is outside of our conscious control. Therefore we cannot just "do" exercises to get ourselves back into proper alignment. Instead we must learn to "undo" the interferences that prevent our postural system from working efficiently.

Through the principles of The Alexander Technique, we will move through a basic, gentle yoga sequence and begin to undo our mental and physical barriers in order to re-discover our innate whole body intelligence which guides us through a safe and effective yoga asana practice.

Suzanne Powell has been teaching mind body disciplines for 9 years and the Alexander Technique full-time for 3 years. She is a 1600+ Hr AmSAT Alexander Technique teacher, a 500-Hour Yoga Instructor, Personal Trainer, and authorized in mindfulness meditation instruction. Suzanne regularly works with yogis and meditators in her private practice helping them to re-align, prevent injuries, and live life with more ease, flow and balance.
