This class is designed for the over-fifty student in search of a mindful and gentle yoga practice. Several options for each pose will offer mature students an opportunity to practice at a level appropriate for their own body on that particular day. Standing, strengthening, and balance poses with support options as well as relaxation and body and breath awareness are included in each class. Some floor poses are included at the beginning and end of each class; students are encouraged to use support for getting up from and down to the floor as needed. 

Nishtha Jane Kappy has delved into a wide variety of somatic practices and spent 20 years as a licensed massage therapist, all of which inform her approach to teaching yoga. She has worked with many individuals with health and mobility challenges and loves figuring out how to modify asana so the student receives the most benefit. Nishtha brings a hands-on knowledge of human anatomy and a deep curiosity about internal organization to each class and emphasizes the importance of sensing one's own body/mind and breath because, as one of her beloved teachers used to say, "You're the one who's in there." She is registered with Yoga Alliance as eRYT 500.
