ABOUT US

The mission of High Desert Yoga is to create a nurturing environment that supports our community of students and teachers as they deepen their experience of body, mind, and spirit. Through the teaching and practice of asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), and yoga philosophy, we strive to promote optimum physical health, clarity of mind, and spiritual inspiration for all. We also invite you to explore the wide variety of holistic healing services and therapies offered by practitioners in our Healing Arts Center.

OUR VISION

WHAT WE DO

OUR COMMUNITY

High Desert Yoga opened its doors in 1995 with the goal of welcoming everyone to the study and practice of yoga. We seek to make the healing benefits of yoga available to all ages and abilities from youngsters to elders, from novice to advanced practitioners, and to include people with therapeutic needs.

We offer specialty workshops with our own senior teachers and celebrated guest instructors that have included Angela Farmer, Judith Lasater, Donna Farhi, Rama Joyti Vernon, Francois Raoult, Ramanand Patel, Elise Miller, Laura Antelmi and many more.

Since 1995 we have been contributing to our growing community of dedicated yoga teachers and practitioners through our highly regarded 200-hour and 300-hour Teacher Training Program, led by resident master teacher Kim Schwartz and HDY founder Zoreh Afsarzadeh.

Every year we welcome new and returning friends to transformational and rejuvenating week-long yoga retreats hosted and taught by Zoreh Afsarzadeh at Yoga del Pacifico on the beach in Troncones, Mexico. We also offer special retreats that give us the opportunity to practice yoga while exploring new places and cultures in locations such as Thailand, Bali,

Costa Rica, India, Peru as well as our own beloved New Mexico yoga center.
