Teacher Training

 

Prenatal Yoga

Our prenatal yoga teacher training program is infused with the wisdom of childbirth education and yoga. Get the skills to help women understand pregnancy and better prepare for labor and birth. Learn to guide women in making informed decisions for their care, improving birth outcomes.

 

This program provides a complete basic foundation in prenatal and early postnatal yoga instruction. You do not need to be a yoga teacher or have a certification to attend.  This training is designed for health-care providers, yoga teachers, childbirth educators or individuals interested in learning how to help pregnant women enhance their pregnancy.

Gain knowledge and confidence in all areas of instruction, including:

  • anatomy and physiology

  • structuring a prenatal/postnatal class, sequencing and general routine of poses and breathing techniques

  • common discomforts of pregnancy

  • pathological problems

  • therapeutic application with alternative modalities

  • fetal position (occiput posterior, breech)

  • Breath-work for pregnancy and labor

  • Vocalization, visualization, and meditation techniques

  • Partner prenatal yoga

  • yoga poses, modifications, assisting for each trimester

Colette Crawford

Colette  Crawford, RN, BSN, E-RYT, founder of the Seattle Holistic Center, has created a highly successful program for prenatal and postnatal yoga.  Combined with her experience as a registered nurse in labor and delivery, public health and childbirth education and her 40 years of yoga, Colette bridges western medicine with alternative healing arts in teaching thousands of pregnant and postpartum women. Her greatest teacher and the source of constant inspiration on this path is her Guru,  Mata Amritanandamayi or Amma, as she is known. "It  is through Amma, I am learning the true essence of yoga and spiritual  living." Colette is a mother of four and a grandmother.

 

Heather Lee Farrell

Heather has been practicing and teaching yoga for more than 18 years and is an EYT 500hr - RYT 500hr Yoga teacher with Peri-natal certification(PRYT) and Doctor of Oriental Medicine. She has studied and received certification in a  wide variety of prenatal yoga methods and offers a multifaceted approach to her teaching. Heather integrates education and training in the areas of Yoga, Oriental Medicine, Holistic Health Childbirth Education studies, Doula labor support training, and Pilates Mat instructor training levels 1-5. She has worked with local hospitals, birth centers and organizations teaching workshops for 'moms with preterm babies', 'health and yoga for the childbearing year' and more. Heather is honored to support such a sacred time in a woman and family's life.  She is thankful for her many teachers, and wonderful and loving family.
